GLOF II

Pakistan’s GLOF-II project tackles the rising threat of glacial lake outburst floods in the north. It expands on GLOF-I by covering 24 valleys in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 16 in Gilgit-Baltistan, focusing on flood risk reduction. This includes promote the best indigenous practices, establishing an early warning system, building infrastructure for protection, improving preparedness through safe havens and escape routes, and even incorporating community gardens.
